Five mistakes people make when hiring a junk removal company
How you can avoid disappointment when hiring a junk removal company

Maybe you have a basement that needs a good thorough purge. Or perhaps you started a renovation job and didn't realize how much debris would be created and now you have a huge pile of trash sitting in your driveway or garage that needs to be cleaned up. Well rather than risk damage to your vehicle and take days of your time to haul it off to the dump, you have considered hiring a junk removal company to help you deal with this issue. However, there are a number of things you may need to consider before you do so.
Read on for a sample of some of these issues you should be aware of when hiring a junk removal company and how to prepare yourself for a successful experience.
5 mistakes people make when hiring a junk removal company:
1. Hiring a bin rental company without a plan
You should always have a plan when hiring bin rental companies. You should also know how long you will need the bin rental services for. Don't be tempted to hurry through the bin rental company selection process, especially if you are new to bin rental services. Find out about what type of equipment they use, what sizes of dumpsters they rent, and the costs of the rental and the disposal fees. Also, make sure you understand what types of trash you can dispose of.
2. Hiring a junk removal company without considering cost
Many waste management services today are priced based on volume - not weight. This means you'll be charged based on the bin's volume which may not be your best deal. This is why we strongly recommend hiring a bin rental company that charges by weight instead of volume. If you need to dispose of a larger amount of waste or need to sort different types of waste, then hiring two bins may help keep costs down and ensure that things are disposed of properly.
3. Not knowing what bin they'll need
If you're clearing out a basement, make sure to get a bin that can accommodate the volume of material that you're throwing out. Also, think about how the bin will be removed. Small bin sizes are typically no more than 14 cubic yards, but larger bin sizes can reach up to 40 cubic yards! The larger bin sizes require a larger truck, so the driver will need more space to turn and maneuver the truck when delivering the bin rental.
4. Not considering timing of bin delivery
If you schedule a bin delivery and then have to cancel it, bin rental companies may charge you a cancellation fee. If you can't make it home in time for bin delivery, call the bin rental company as soon as possible to reschedule or find out about adding additional days of service so that they don't charge you if there's any chance you'll be late. Many services such as ours do not require you to be home at the time of delivery or pickup.
5. Hiring bin rental companies that don't have the bin size you need
Not every bin rental company is the same and there are a huge variety of sizes to choose from. Some companies offer bin rentals in as small as 6 cubic yards up to 40 cubic yards. If you're clearing out an attic, basement, or garage, we recommend starting with at least a 14 cubic yard bin rental so that you can be sure you'll get rid of everything - or two bins if your materials are particularly large. You can also rent a large 40 yard bin if you have the space on your site to accommodate the large bin and truck that would deliver it. A bin rental company that has a variety of bin sizes should be able to accommodate almost any size job.
These are just some of the mistakes that people tend to make when hiring a junk removal company. To help avoid these and other pitfalls, we suggest getting in touch with one of our dumpster rental professionals today to discuss your next job.
